MR. LUTHER RAUK, PHYSiCAL EDUCATION TEACHER

Personal Statement:

I have always loved being physically active and playing sports, from water skiing to golfing and so much more. My hope is that my students will find a sport or physical activity that they love and can enjoy throughout their life. Teamwork is an essential part of success in many avenues of life. In my classroom, students will gain a better understanding of what it means to work together to achieve a common goal. In addition to group goals, physical education is a great environment for personal goal setting. Each student has different strengths and challenges and my classroom is a safe place to attempt new skills and be successful. I hope to create a Physical Education Department that meets and supports classroom and RVIS goals. I expect to work closely with all stakeholders, inspire students to do their best, and do all that I can to make RVIS a safe and fun place to learn.

Personal Statement:

I am pleased to join the Arabic department at Riffa Views International School.  My main objective is for students to love and appreciate the Arabic language and culture, and to provide them with differentiated instructions and materials to meet their individual learning needs. Our philosophy is teaching Arabic language in an applied way by oral conversation, songs, plays, games...etc.  The main aim of using many different strategies and methods is to make Arabic language fun & interesting.  Both my experience in teaching Arabic for many years in a public school and school support system make this mission easier.

MISS KHULOOD Abdulla Saleh, ARABIC TEACHER

Personal Statement:

I feel very lucky to be able to enjoy the beauty of the Arabic language; its prose, verse and even calligraphy. It is such a rich language that deserves to be learnt. I also believe that we as adults cannot grasp the potentials of our children, who always are capable of surprising us with amazing ideas every day. Therefore, my role as an educator is to help them discover and explore the treasures within themselves. Over the past years, I have found that music, physical activity and games help make the learning process more enjoyable and constructive for both the students and teacher.

MRS. HUDA SRAIEB, ARABIC TEACHER

Personal Statement:

As an Arabic teacher, I look forward to making my students love this beautiful language in a modern way so they can excel in it and enjoy the mastery of language. My experience shows what I have achieved in transforming my students from simple learners to young poets and story writes. I manage to do so by using different skills and activities that makes the subject attractive to them. I have a strong tendency to teach the language through acting, role play and practice. I believe that language is not grammar rules and vocabulary, but rather a life experience. “If you tell me I will forget, if you teach me I will remember, if I am involved I will learn.” To me, the students are the center of the educational activity. The love of this subject is very important to make them succeed. I look forward to working with my colleagues and the RVIS community helping students to achieve their individual learning goals, while being socially adaptable in a global ol tsociety. I am proud to be part of a schohat will make a true difference in the educational development in Bahrain and the surrounding areas.

mrs. wafa'a ashoor, islamic studies teacher

Personal Statement:

"Love what you do, so you will do what you love"

I love being  a teacher and surrounded by children, and I am lucky to have this at Riffa Views International School along with wonderful,  supportive and happy staff.  From my point of view modern Islamic studies are taught by practice, examples, debates and conversing.  All this makes students aware of the nature of Islam.  Sharing our thoughts allow students to explore their knowledge of Islam and heritage of the Arab culture.

MRS. HANADI RUSTOM, ELEMENTARY GUIDANCE COUNSELOR

Personal Statement:

I am really glad to join Riffa Views International School as a school counselor. I believe that all students are equal and should all be treated the same by offering unconditional acceptance. I like to work with pre-school and elementary students because it is the foundation for future success, when students begin to develop their academic self-concept, life skills and character values. It is also a time when students develop and acquire attitudes. I believe that a good counseling program should provide education, prevention and intervention services which are integrated into all aspects of the children's lives. I believe also that early identification and intervention of children's academic and personal/social needs is essential in removing barriers to learning and in promoting academic achievement. I always remember that students learn better when they are happy.

MR. MICHAEL DUNLOP, DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY

Personal Statement:

Today's learners are "digital natives." To them, information technology is not a luxury or an add-on, but an integral part of everyday life. RVIS promises to offer state-of-the-art technology to learners of all ages. In my role as Director of Technology, I will have the opportunity to support teachers and students in integrating these resources into their day-to-day classroom activities. The potential is enormous, and I am excited to be involved with a school where technology will play a core role in the delivery of the curriculum.

 Our Specialist Staff

Miss Fawzia Al Zaman, I.T. Systems Specialist

Personal Statement:

This is my first posting within a school environment and I am very happy to have been given the chance to assist in developing the technological aspects at RVIS. Education has changed dramatically over the past 10 years and without the aid of computers schools cannot compete with the modern world. We aim to ensure that RVIS is the most technically advanced school in Bahrain, with world-class equipment and facilities that result in highly trained staff and students.

MRS. Samantha Browne, School Nurse

Personal Statement:

This is my first posting as a school nurse and I am absolutely delighted to have been given the chance to pursue this challenge at RVIS. I think I'm about to discover that there's an awful lot more to a school nurse than handing out band aids! I see the job as one that combines the interdisciplinary services of education, prevention and intervention and despite having 22 years of nursing and midwifery experience there is always more to learn! I truly believe a full-time school nurse is a necessity, not an option and that health education is an important addition to any child's academic agenda. It must also be reassuring to the parents & teachers to know there is someone medically trained on site. The following quote is so true, 'You cannot educate a child who is not healthy and you cannot keep a child healthy who is not educated' (J.Elders).
