Personal Statement:
I embrace teaching young children as an opportunity to motivate and inspire a love of learning. I am attentive to understanding children’s learning styles and use individualized portfolios, observations and informal assessment to plan learning approaches which support each child’s individual needs. I believe in the importance of hands-on experiences, time for trial and error and opportunity for reflection.
I am so thrilled to be working among such a dedicated team who truly want to make a difference in education. The synergy created by such a motivated team has created a  stimulating environment where both students and teachers can achieve their full potential.

Miss kristina olms
pre-Kindergarten Teacher

Personal Statement:

My classroom is a positive and exploratory learning environment where students are as much involved in the planning and teaching process as I am. Lesson plans are modified to best fit the interests of the students and units are developed which encapsulate curriculum as well as curiosity. "The important thing is not so much that every child should be taught, as that every child should be given the wish to learn." (John Lubbock).  As an educator, I know that a person should never stop learning. It has been an incredible experience working at RVIS where educators share my passion for helping students explore opportunities, take risks, share ideas, and encourage each other to discover and learn.

Personal Statement:

I see each child in my class as an individual and therefore believe in differentiation, as well as running a classroom program that is holistic in its scope. I encourage children to make their own choices in the classroom, to work independently, with adults and with other children, in a wide variety of activities and through many curriculum areas each day. The opportunity to be part of the teaching team at RVIS is extremely exciting. I expect a challenging and rewarding first year as we build a high quality international school.

KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

Personal Statement:

I believe that every child has the ability to bring something that is unique and special to our world. My role as a teacher is to provide an atmosphere that is joyful, fair, safe, caring, and stimulating. It is important to me that children feel successful and develop a positive self-esteem towards learning. I will create an environment that is developmentally appropriate and that allows children the freedom to explore, take risks and to become responsible members who can work either independently or cooperatively within a group. My goal is to have children view learning as something that is fun and enjoyable. I will achieve this goal by acknowledging the importance of play and integrating as many hands on activities into daily learning. I am excited and proud to be a part of the RVIS faculty and can’t wait to meet my students and start off a wonderful and memorable journey!

MRS. FIONA AL ROWAIE

GRADE 1 CLASSROOM TEACHER

Personal Statement:

My philosophy of education puts the child at the center of his or her own learning. I strive to foster positive dispositions towards learning; including curiosity, inquiry, creativity and self-confidence. I believe that in order for children to learn they need to feel secure. For this reason I think it is important to provide clear expectations and predictable routines, and to develop a classroom environment in which students are encouraged to make decisions and take risks. I use ongoing assessment to understand what individual children can do and to plan learning opportunities which will help each student reach his or her own potential.

Miss Wendy MacWilliam

Grade 5 Classroom Teacher

Personal Statement:

The most important thing you can give someone is a chance. We have been given the chance to create a multi-cultural caring school where students and faculty from around the world can meet and grow academically, socially, emotionally and athletically. We have the opportunity to establish a balanced triangle between parents, students and faculty to create a harmonious community within the Riffa Views Development. It is an energetic educational environment where students can develop lifelong international friendships with class mates, and faculty can forge new friendships to learn from each other. We are all lifelong learners! To follow my favorite quote “You must be the change you want to see in the world.” (Mahatma Gandhi) I will provide a safe and nurturing classroom where all students will feel free to take risks and succeed. I will provide a peaceful and positive influence on the students entrusted to my care. I am very excited to be a part of the inaugural RVIS team.

Mr. Jon Malone

Grade 2 Classroom Teacher

Personal Statement:

Children are unique individuals with their own special talents and abilities. These talents and abilities need to be exposed and built upon to maximize the child’s potential to their fullest. More than ever, children today need a solid academic foundation that not only provides the knowledge of core subjects, but the foresight and ability to apply this knowledge in various situations they will encounter throughout life. In addition, children must possess the social skills needed to be positive role models in today’s society. This includes accepting one’s place in life and being tolerant of people’s beliefs, culture and traditions. Educators today must help ensure that children are prepared both academically and socially for the many challenges that lay ahead. I am proud to be part of a school that will make a true difference in the educational development of its students.

MISS DANELLE KNEYSE

GRADE 5 CLASSROOM TEACHER

Personal Statement:

I strongly believe the most important shape in a student's life is the triangle. It ultimately takes the student, teacher, and parents working together using clear communication for the student to reach their true potential. In the classroom a student will experience enthusiasm for learning and be exposed to hands-on inquiries rather than just lecturing. I understand that not all students learn the same way so I will modify my lessons to meet the needs of my students. I am ecstatic that Riffa Views International School will be my home for the upcoming school year and look forward to meeting and working with my students, their parents, and my other colleagues. From the interactions with the staff, I can tell this school will be hands-on, student-centered, where expectations are held high, the faculty works together and have fun doing what they love, teaching children.

MISS Simone Cooper

GRADE 4 CLASSROOM TEACHER

Personal Statement:

My mission as an educator has always been to provide a safe, secure, and rich environment in which my students are able to explore and learn at their own pace and level. I see myself as a tour guide showing my students the wonders and joys of learning through hands-on activities and encouraging research into topics of personal interest. My hopes for Riffa Views International School include creating a classroom culture that values integrity, caring, respect, and global citizenship. I want my students to be proficient in the use of technology which may include Power Point Presentations of Social Studies reports, E-pals (e-mailing) other students across the globe to compare and contrast lives on different continents and countries, and a class newsletter. I want my students to leave my classroom with a love of learning for learning's sake.

MR. GEOFFREY WARD

We participate in learning activities that instill a sense of excitement, curiosity and wonder. I use an integrated learning approach that allows students to organize and present their understandings in multiple ways. I believe it is the strong interpersonal relationships that we form with students, colleagues and the community that shape our learning environment. By using these relationships as our foundation, I look to develop students as confident learners who strive to achieve their own standard of excellence and become responsible global citizens.
